Is diabetes (type 2) a disease resulting from excessive sugar consumption?

Diabetes is not directly related to the consumption of sugars. The link between type 1 diabetes (juvenile diabetes - an autoimmune disease) and type 2 diabetes (adult diabetes) is the hormone insulin. Insulin is our body's primary anabolic hormone (which catalyzes metabolic processes). Insulin regulates energy production at the cellular level. A disturbance in the natural regulation of the hormone causes the suffocation of the body's cells and their poisoning.

Processed and industrialized foods, combined with stress and anxiety, cause insulin resistance and diabetes! Consuming natural sugars (in fruits and vegetables) is not the cause of diabetes. Until a hundred years ago, diabetes was not an observable disease; its rate was negligible. Within 40 years, China has become a diabetic-stricken country because of the transition to processed and industrialized foods. (Sugar consumption in China is still low today.)
