People with diabetes most often use artificial sweeteners that do not contain sugar. Is the use of artificial sweeteners harmful to health?

I recommend people with diabetes use only natural sweeteners (although they are not calorie-free): Honey, date honey, carob powder, maple extract (no additives), or stevia plant extract.

Non-natural substances are perceived by the body as an "external invader" substance and are broken down by the liver, forced to work hard in the modern diet. Artificial sweeteners are calorie-free but a lousy alternative because they put a lot of strain on the liver and kidneys. It is advised to avoid artificial sweeteners. Natural sweeteners are not causing aggravation of T2D.
