Medications in cases of IBD diseases are only meant to relieve the symptoms. They cannot cure the disease, as they are not designed to treat its causes, the immune system's weakness, partially because of unbalanced intestinal flora. Medications have side effects and lasting damage, but most of us fear disobeying the doctor's instructions and thus perpetuating the disease! Surgery to remove narcotic intestinal tissues and various antibiotics and antiparasitic drugs, including corticosteroids, only perpetuate the disease without bringing about a cure.
