I like lettuce very much, why was I advised to avoid eating it?

In patients with chronic gastrointestinal infections, the intestinal walls leak and inflamed. Lettuce and other green leaves stick to the inflamed intestinal walls and aggravate the inflammation that impairs intestinal absorption. The solution is to chop the lettuce and green leaves into tiny pieces, preferably dipped in olive oil generously with squeezed fresh lemon. It improves digestion and contradicts the acidity in the intestines.
