Was acupuncture discovered randomly through trial and error? Or maybe an unknown origin knowledge?
Chinese acupuncture has existed for thousands of years (between 3000-5,000 years) with minimal knowledge of the physiology and anatomy of the human body. It is implausible to assume that it was possible to produce precise maps of the meridians (energy channels) and almost 2,000 acupuncture points with masterful accuracy. Acupuncture is a very advanced technique, even for our time, based on energy medicine that does not yet exist in modern medicine. It is illogical to think that the ancient Chinese, three thousand years ago, searched the human body for acupuncture points using trial-and-error methods without understanding what they were looking for.
The inevitable conclusion is that acupuncture theory is not based on trial and error, although the knowledge gained may have helped improve the technique.
