I am a 70-year-old diabetic. I almost wholly avoid sweet fruits on the advice of my dietitian. I miss fruits very much, but I'm afraid?

You should avoid sweets such as cakes, snacks, pasta, pizzas, and many industrialized and processed foods. Among all the fruits, watermelon and grapes contain mainly glucose, so it is advisable to avoid them. Fruits have many nutrients, antioxidants, enzymes, electrolytes, and vitamins. All fruits and vegetables have dietary fiber, which is essential for maintaining intestinal flora and strengthening the immune system. Moderate and controlled consumption of fruits, such as berries (containing powerful antioxidants), is recommended.

It is highly recommended that you avoid entirely processed and industrialized food and reduce consumption of cow's milk and dairy products. Goat and sheep milk products are preferred. Meat, poultry, sausages, etc., are not suitable for diabetics; they have an acute inflammatory effect. I recommend you read the articles in the attached links.
