The liver is under constant load in patients with chronic kidney disease (and vice versa). Once the possibility of protein in the urine is ruled out, bubbles in the urine may indicate ammonia in the urine. Ammonia is a breakdown product of proteins and a particularly potent toxin. Ammonia in urine is often a sign of liver failure. Getting advice from specialists and performing comprehensive liver and kidney function tests is advisable.
