Inflammation vs. Infection, regarding diabetes patients. (Often confused.)

There is a fundamental difference between inflammation and infection, but you will find concept confusion almost everywhere. Diabetes creates inflammation in the body by the very fact of damage to tissues and cells. Wounds typical of people with diabetes sometimes become infected and form a secondary infection. Inflammation is a broad concept, whereas infection means a pathogen. (bacterium, virus, parasite, etc.)

Infection is the result of pathogens thriving. (Bacteria, viruses, parasites) Inflammation is the immune system's reaction to the destruction of cells in our body. The definition of inflammation is, of course, much broader than that of infection, which usually produces an inflammatory response.
