Why do women have an increased tendency to develop gallstones, and how it relates to IBD patients?

Hormonal changes, pregnancies, fertility treatments, birth control pills, and unhealthy phytoestrogen diets can cause gallstones to accumulate, especially in menopausal women. (The Estrogen level decreases.) Bile blockages in the gallbladder are a common cause of chronic gastrointestinal infections. Without a regular flow of bile fluid, a solid chemical alkaline, there is nothing to contradict the acidity of the food from the stomach. Therefore, the intestines become very acidic and allow the proliferation of pathogens.
