As a liver cirrhosis patient for many years, I suffered from excruciating pain and various symptoms that are hard to describe! (Without taking painkillers or medications.)
The long-suffering made me explore the deep meaning of my life and destiny. Prolonged pain and suffering and a decreased quality of life have a far-reaching effect on the psyche - the loss of joy and happiness. The patient may go into a deep and prolonged depression. Prolonged pain is a negative vicious cycle because depression consumes a lot of energy while joy and happiness charge the energy of life. The difficulty faced by almost every chronic or addicted patient is how to break the vicious negative cycle. The key is ACCEPTANCE combined with HOPE to achieve recovery. IT KEPT ME ALIVE FOR MANY YEARS UNTIL I REACHED RECOVERY. The key to recovery was (in my case) the love and support of a charming, beautiful Chinese woman named Alixin.
