The fear effect exists in most patients with severe illnesses or those who are perceived as incurable or life-threatening, including chronic heart patients. The explanation is related to our perception that modern medicine is omnipotent. The doctor knows everything, often delegitimizing and even warning not to try different treatment methods. The patient sometimes fears the doctor's reaction, especially when urgent medical assistance is required.
