Medicine often takes advantage of the opportunity to shrink and surgically remove the tumor. How tumor shrinkage is achieved is critical. If it is a natural process, it should not be interfered with. But if the tumor shrinks due to chemotherapy treatment, which is quite violent, even if it is a biological treatment, then the risk of continuing medication treatment is probably equal or higher to the chance of surgery and recovery. I didn't have to go through such a dilemma, but my Chinese wife's brother underwent an operation in which a third of his lung was removed after the tumor had shrunk to a size that could be operated on.
