The sacrifice required of a patient's spouse with a chronic illness is significant and requires perseverance and endless dedication. Not all couples survive it on an emotional level! Many couples remain seemingly married. Recovery from severe autoimmune diseases is usually associated with love and support. Without love, it is almost impossible to recover.
