Discussion: What are the main challenges currently facing medical science?

The immediate answer would, of course, be to find drugs to eradicate cancer! But that is only a partial and temporary answer. The critical challenge of modern medicine is a unified theory that can decipher and crack all chronic diseases: cancer, autoimmune diseases, addictions, and mental illness. (Currently, medicine prefers technological research over theoretical research.)
