Do doctors tend to recommend a reduction in medication use in autoimmune patients?

Medications for chronic diseases are intended only to improve symptoms; they are not intended in the first place to cure autoimmune patients. You would expect doctors to try to reduce the particularly harmful use of prescription drugs after a period. They may be trying, but the data proves just the opposite. Physicians occasionally switch from one drug to another, but the consumption per capita is on a steady upward trend.
