Blockages and inflammations of the gallbladder have a far-reaching effect on the immune system. Heart patients must be aware of the importance of the gallbladder. Surgical removal of the gallbladder is not recommended.

The gallbladder stores the bile and releases it when needed for the duodenum, mainly to digest and emulsify fatty foods. Blockage of the gallbladder violates the acid-base balance in the gut and affects the entire immune system. The most common symptoms are constipation, flatulence, nail or vaginal fungus, (in women) headaches, sinusitis, cough, and general weakness due to a load on the immune system. In acute situations, inflammation of the gallbladder causes sharp pain.
