Is swimming (although it requires significant lung exertion) recommended for COPD patients?

Swimming is one of the healthiest and most recommended sports for COPD patients. Young patients may benefit the most from swimming. The water must be clean and free of toxic chemicals. The maximum benefit is derived from gradual but consistent lung effort. Swimming contributes to strengthening the immune system, lung capacity, and mood. It is recommended at any age, adjusted to your physical condition. Moderate, slow swimming will do the work as well.
