Migraines are symptoms of intracranial pressure due to disruption of the blood flow of the jugular (neck) veins caused by swollen lymph nodes.

Migraines result from swollen veins at the base of the skull, which prevent blood flow from the brain, causing intracranial pressure. (Varicose veins are the result of an inflammatory process.)

Gallbladder infections, sometimes asymptomatic, are the leading cause of migraine pain. The gallbladder meridian passes through the head and directly affects the jugular lymph nodes. Swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck sometimes blocks blood flow from the brain and thus increases intracranial pressure. Many lymph nodes in the neck are not on the surface and cannot be felt by touch.
