Is it recommended to perform a prostate massage? I have heard that it is painful?

Massage of the prostate is supposed to be part of an integrated treatment and not an exclusive remedy.

Massage of the prostate is highly recommended as it improves blood circulation within the prostate. The massage is performed by kneeling, inserting a finger (with gloves) into the anus, and pressing on the prostate. Prostate massage is usually painful in a state of active inflammation. Prolonged walking, especially going down and upstairs, is an excellent substitute for prostate massage, which is not always available.
