Fear effect - Why are patients with chronic liver diseases considered incurable (Including liver Cirrhosis) often afraid of self-healing medicine therapies?

The fear effect exists in most patients with severe illnesses or those who are perceived as incurable. (Including me at the time) The explanation is related to our perception that modern medicine is omnipotent. The doctor knows everything, often delegitimizes, and even warns not to try different treatment methods. In liver diseases, there is a fear for the patient's life. Fear paralyzes and does not push to make attempts to look for different solutions. I am an extremely unusual case who went against the conventions.
