"I am a 45-year-old fat man; I believe fat people's egos are lower than lean people's."

The body image of significantly obese people, in my opinion, is damaged, of course, considering the individual personality. The ego is affected by body image in an age where everything is photographed and documented. The difficulty in relationships and sexuality, and sometimes also health difficulties that accompany persistent obesity, affect the mind toward reducing the ego. (Not necessarily bad!) It is common to think that fat people are charming people! It's possible, and as you point out, they remove the big veil from themselves and weaken their ego.
