After stopping drinking alcohol, self-rehabilitation of the liver is possible only if you have not passed the point of no return. The problem is that you usually do not know you can perform a spontaneous renewal of the liver; the various tests typically do not provide a precise figure. The answer depends on the degree of damage done to the liver. Recovery from cirrhosis of the liver is long and tedious and takes many years. Drinkers of alcoholic beverages with high alcohol content should expect prolonged rehabilitation. Although liver transplantation is sometimes a viable solution, it is complex, costly, and dangerous.
