The claim that the abandonment of a central figure (usually mom or dad) on sexual orientation stems from the thought that sexual orientation is acquired and results from environment and society (epigenetics). All these theories have been ruled out in empirical studies.
Such claims have been made in the past but have no factual basis. A 1981 Kinsey Institute study (42 years ago) that examined 1,500 cases argued that this was not a reasonable possibility. Sexual orientation is an energetic-magnetic trait. The environmental impact on it is marginal. Sexual orientation is usually prominent long before the age of sexual puberty.
