Gallbladder - a small organ that can impair the immune system function. (Relevant also for COPD patients)

Apparently, there is no connection between gallbladder and respiratory diseases. The gallbladder tends to become clogged with gallstones, especially in women. (due to hormonal fluctuations) The gallbladder, the gate of the liver to the digestive system, dramatically influences the immune system as a whole.

The gallbladder stores the bile and releases it into the duodenum when needed, mainly to digest and emulsify fatty foods. Blockage of the gallbladder violates the acid-base balance in the gut and affects the entire immune system. The most common symptoms are constipation, flatulence, nail or vaginal fungus, (in women) headaches, sinusitis, cough, and general weakness due to a load on the immune system. In acute situations, inflammation of the gallbladder causes sharp pain.
