We have mistakenly gotten used to thinking we need a large amount of protein. What happens to the excess animal protein we consume?

I recommend COPD patients sharply reduce their consumption of meat, poultry, and dairy products and cheeses. These are too acidic and create phlegm that burdens the respiratory system.

An adult needs about one gram of protein per one kg of weight. In the modern era (in developed countries), consuming proteins (mainly from animals) is 3-4 times the body's needs for tissue regeneration. The surplus is redirected to produce energy (calories). Each protein turns to ammonia (NH3), which is transformed into uric acid later in the liver and eliminated by the kidneys through the urine. But it is a process that puts a lot of strain on the liver, kidneys, and immune system, which is already overloaded in COPD patients.
