An increase in body temperature is a defense mechanism of our body. Except for the immunocompromised, there is no danger of fever.

Fever.

Antipyretic drugs are usually unnecessary because they contradict our bodies. Except for the immunocompromised and infants (who do not yet have a developed immune system), there is no need for fever-reducing medication. Fever is a natural mechanism of our body designed to ward off invaders and strengthen the immune system. Medications to reduce fever are often combined with pain medications and more, so they relieve symptoms but cause addiction to drugs that weaken the immune system.

  • On my first trip to China, even before I learned that I had liver cirrhosis, I had a fever as a result of Chinese medicine treatments. When I went to the doctor (in the private clinic) and asked for pills to reduce fever, he explained there was no danger in fever and that it was a defense mechanism of the body that was harmful to contradict. It took me a day to realize that the Chinese doctor was right! The next day, I told him that I had thought about the explanation, and he, of course, made sense. For more than 17 years, I have not taken pills to reduce my fever. In my complex situation, I could have died many times, but not because of a high fever!

The habit that every pain or discomfort requires a remedy is fixed in Western culture. No wonder the world is consuming more and more drugs per capita without improving chronic morbidity.
